The  2009  Avon  River  Festival  is  fast  approaching.  After  much  doubt  in  2008
surrounding  the  future of  the Float Parade,  this year’s event sees  this much  loved
feature retained as one of the weekend’s favourite attractions!  
 
The  traditional Float Parade has been a part of  the Avon Descent celebrations  for
decades and was reinvigorated in 2008. On Friday 31st July, 2009, the Float Parade
officially  kicks  off  at  7pm.  The  main  street  of  Northam  transforms  into  a  vibrant
cavalcade  of  colour,  costumes  and  energy  as  local  community  groups  and
businesses make their way down to the festival area.
