C.Y. O'Connor College of TAFE is a Statutory Authority with a Governing Council responsible to the Minister for Education and Training.  The Governing Council has the authority, conferred by the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996, to perform the following functions:

• Prepare a College Training Profile for the approval of the Minister and when required by the Minister;
• Develop and implement strategic and management plans for the College;
• Ensure that College courses, programs and services are responsive to, and meet the needs of students, industry and community;
• Ensure that the College's commitments under its Resource Agreement and any other contractual agreements are met.

The Governing Council, under the act, delegates the strategic operation and management of the College to the Managing Director.

Mr Andrew Drummond is the other member of Governing Council. Mr Drummond's term of appointment is not due to expire until 2010 and therefore he did not need to be re-appointed at this time.

Thanks you for the contribution that Mr Steven Pollard has made as Acting Chair, then Chair, Governing Council between April, 2007 and June, 2009. His active support for the College as a committed and active ambassador has assisted greatly in positioning the College as a valued organisation within the Wheatbelt.
