Why choose to disclose when or before enrolling?
- To obtain information about available support services
- To find out about how to access these services
- To discuss your specific needs with our Access and Equity Officer to ensure appropriate services are provided
- To discuss core course requirements to ensure course is appropriate
- To assist in transition from school to TAFE
Assistance our Equity Officer can provide includes, but is not limited to:
- Enrolment assistance
- Removing physical or organisational barriers limiting access (e.g. transferring text into audio tape)
- Coordinating services to suit students (e.g. flexibility in timetable/assessment)
- Arranging a support person
- Arranging mentoring support/tutorial assisstance
- Arranging assistive equipment
- Briefing college staff regarding additional needs of students
- Guiding students towards appropriate employment agencies or other services
- Arranging an interpreter
