What are Traineeships?
Employment based training program that provides an opportunity to learn new skills and gain work experience in a hands-on environment. Click here to see which courses are currently available as traineeships through C.Y. O’Connor TAFE.
Duration
Full or part time, usually take 12 months full-time employment or 18 months part-time employment. However, it is possible to study at your own pace, which means you can finish your training quicker!

Requirements
To start a traineeship you must be 15 years or older and have completed at least year 10 (or equivalent). You will al and find an employer willing to employ someone as a trainee.

You must first find an employer willing to employ someone as a trainee.
- Enquire through the New Apprenticeship Centre located at the College
- Local JOBLINKS or visit Job Link
- Local job networks or visit Job Network
- Discussions with your Secondary school career advisors
- Recruitment advertisements in the newspapers
- Work experience
- Word of mouth, and
- Direct approach - where you approach a business direct
